DEANNA MOLINARO
Artist Statement
I have always believed actions speak louder than words; wherein the simple stroke of a brush emanates volumes about the person who yields it. I regard fine art as an expression of oneself through a collection of combined actions, gestures and emotions to create a visual work of art. My name is Deanna Molinaro, I’m an emerging contemporary artist from Hamilton Ontario Canada. First and foremost, I am an artist, painter, designer, illustrator and aspiring wardrobe stylist, costume designer and published writer/illustrator.
Art has always been my failsafe, it has been by escape for as long as I can remember, it is my strength and inspiration. At birth I was diagnosed with Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa, EB for short. For those who don’t know, EB is a rare genetic skin disorder causing blistering and shearing of the skin. I lack collagen 7 which is the glue that holds your skin together, as a result my body is covered almost 80% in open wounds. Over the years the art of drawing, painting, fashion and design helped me push through the numerous challenges life has thrown my way. It is because of art I have learned to try to live in the moment, not dwell on things that you can't change.
Personally I believe art provides hope, it is freeing, there is no right or wrong, and the options are endless. As an artist, my goal is not only to visually manifest my ideas, emotions, opinions and dreams, but also to share my unique story with and inspire
others to never give up, follow your heart, and always have hope. My devotion to art is a key aspect of my self-discovery in life and resonates deeply in my own personal growth as both artist and individual.
